After the Fall Will Bring 80’s Ice Age Shooting to PSVR

What if the Cold War went literally cold? Like, led to the next ice age cold? A real ice age, not the movies with that weird squirrel. After the Fall shows a world nearly 20 years into an ice age and it certainly has some interesting ideas.

The game takes place in the year 2005, 20 years after the Cold War got literally cold. A mysterious ice age has hit the world, and the addition of mutants created by an unknown drug certainly isn’t helping matters at all. Its up to you and some friends to do what video games do best when matched with zombies: grab some guns and aim for the head. You don’t even need to grab friends as, taking cues from games like Destiny and The Division, After the Fall is a shared world shooter, and you’ll be seeing other players as they carry out their own quests. If you’re not interested in teaming up with them, no worries, the game can still be played alone.

The trailer also gives us a glimpse at the post-apocalyptic setting of what was originally 1980’s Los Angles. Having been to Los Angles a few times, I can safely confirm that it doesn’t look that different from how it normally did. You’ll be collecting materials in an effort to craft better weapons and tools to help you survive the enemies, such as a wrist mounted rocket launcher. You can also hang out in a hub world between levels, letting you chat with and team up with other players as you want.

After the Fall is being developed by Vertigo Games, who also put out VR FPS Arizona Sunshine.

After the Fall will be launching on HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and PlayStation VR in 2020.
