Battlefield 5 is Going Back to the Series’ Roots With the Upcoming Pacific Update

Things have been fairly subdued on the Battlefield 5 front as of late, with the release of free updates slowing to a trickle ahead of the big push to add the Pacific Theater. Now, DICE has announced that Battlefield 5’s next installment of free seasonal content is called Chapter 5: War in the Pacific, and we’ll be getting a reveal trailer for it on Wednesday, October 23.

First teased back at EA Play during E3 earlier this year, today’s new teaser-for-a-trailer is our second glimpse of Battlefield 5’s take on the Pacific so far. In an updated roadmap for Battlefield 5 released during EA Play, DICE briefly outlined some of what the Chapter 5 season will include. Before the end of 2020, Battlefield 5 will receive three new maps including Iwo Jima, the U.S. and Japan as factions for the Pacific theater, and a selection of new weapons and vehicles—including boats, naturally.

There’s no word on whether all of the Chapter 5 content will focus on the Pacific Theater. Previously, DICE teased that Iwo Jima would be just one of the new maps set in the Pacific added with Chapter 5.

No matter how much content is packed into the War in the Pacific update, it stands to be a pretty significant addition to the game considering that Battlefield 5 has focused solely on European and North African locales. It’ll be interesting to see if any of the new weapons and equipment get carried over to Firestorm, Battlefield 5’s interesting but somewhat slept-on battle royale mode.
