Tonight in unexpected video game announcements at this year’s The Game Awards came something new from Square Enix: another sequel to Bravely Default. Bravely Default, developed by Team Asano, was a hit on Nintendo 3DS. The studio also developed Bravely Second: End Layer, a direct sequel in 2015, which released in 2016 in North America.

Tonight’s reveal was for Bravely Default 2, a new game from the team behind Bravely Default and last year’s Octopath Traveler. The trailer also noted the return of composer Revo for its soundtrack. The new JRPG will feature a new world and new Heroes of Light, unlike the original’s sequel being a direct continuation.

Bravely Default 2 will be exclusive to Nintendo Switch, like the originals were to Nintendo platforms. The JRPG will release sometime in 2020.
