Capcom Hopes to Add Another Kulve Taroth-Like Siege to Monster Hunter World: Iceborne

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne’s console launch might be in the rearview mirror, but Capcom still has plenty of content planned for the expansion through 2020. There are two more Horizon Zero Dawn collaboration events scheduled before the end of 2019; the PC launch of Iceborne in January 2020, and the second anniversary celebration, which will be happening around the same time.

But beyond January, the future of Monster Hunter World is relatively unknown. Speaking with USgamer, Monster Hunter producer Ryozo Tsujimoto hinted at future Iceborne-related content. “We believe that Kulve Taroth had positive feedback from players. We hope to deliver something like that in Iceborne updates as well to bring different gameplay dynamics,” Tsujimoto told us.

Kulve Taroth certainly was a huge addition to Monster Hunter World back in April 2018. Acting as a huge Raid-like boss for up to 16 players to take on at once, you couldn’t slay the golden Elder Dragon outright. Instead, you had to force it to flee, gathering whatever materials you could to craft some incredibly pretty endgame weapons and armor sets. Kulve Taroth was the biggest monster when it was added to Monster Hunter World in April 2018, and it still remains the single largest beast in the game today.

Capcom looking to add another Kulve Taroth-like Raid mission to Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is certainly welcome news, and confirms that the developers are looking to add new beasts to the game after Iceborne launches for PC.

In the meantime, check out our full postmortem interview with the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne developers, who talk about creating the monsters, the weapons, and role of the Handler, among other things. The PC version of Iceborne will be out January 9.
