Drums of War Brings Heavy Metal Music Mayhem to VR This October

If you’re like me, you absolutely loved the crazy drummers in Mad Max: Fury Road. Those mutated lads were carrying on the fine tradition of war drumming — playing drums to keep the troops moving in time towards battle. Now, Drums of War takes that same great feeling to VR as you command a massive orc against a bunch of puny dwarves.

Split Your Lungs With Blood and Thunder

In Drums of War, players take control of an Orc with a set of war drums according to a press release from the developer. Anyone who knows anything about orcs has the understanding that they just love looting and pillaging, and that’s exactly the sort of thing you’ll get to do in Drums of War.

The controls are relatively straightforward. You have four drums in front of you in the VR space. Alternating the outer drums will cause the orc to move forward. Hammering on the rightmost or leftmost drum will cause the orc to turn. Hitting the drums in the middle will cause one (or both) cannons to fire, eliminating your enemies in a fiery explosion. Glorious.

Players will be able to enjoy the “Wardrum Hero” game mode (inspired by Guitar Hero), two randomized dungeons, and a laid-back “jukebox mode” that lets you play along to the carnage without worrying too much about the gameplay. There will be 15 story levels in total in the final product.

What’s more, this game brings you all of this VR action with some killer metal music.

Drums of War Release Date Mixes In Metal

Ask any Warthog pilot and they’ll tell you that it’s hard to find anything better than metal music for attacking the enemy with deadly weaponry. Drums of War is no different. The Forest composer Gabe Castro will be lending his talents for some of the game’s musical tracks. and Grind Core Games have also licensed tunes from Warbringer and Exmortus. (Hint: they sure as hell ain’t pop bands.)

If this sounds like your kind of jam, you’ll be able to play Drums of War in VR on October 1, 2019, at a price of $9.74 or your regional equivalent — a massive 35% launch discount. Check out the game’s trailer below, but be wary of getting testosterone poisoning from all the awesomeness. You can also add Drums of War to your wishlist on Steam.

I’ve had a controller in my hand since I was 4 and I haven’t stopped gaming since. CCGs, Tabletop Games, Pen & Paper RPGs – I’ve tried a whole bunch of stuff over the years and I’m always looking to try more!
