Faerie Solitare Harvest, the sequel to popular 2010 surprise hit Faerie Solitare, launched back in April. Now the game has gone completely free to play, with no catch.
Yep. None at all. You can play the game completely for free on Solitare.io. There are no ads, no parts of the game have been removed and are held behind a paywall, and there are no microtransactions of any kind. So, why the decision? Well, developer Subsoap hasn’t actually announced any reason. While they do have a Patreon page to stay funded, it appears this one is being done just to make sure more people can get their hands on the game. If you’ve ever wanted a chance to try it out, now would be the perfect time to do so. Think of it as a late Christmas gift. Or an early New Years’ gift. Whatever works.
Subsoap has spent quite a bit of time developing various Solitare games. In 2010 they put out Faerie Solitare, which received an updated re-release in 2017 and a sequel that is currently the subject of this article. They also put out a free-to-play match 3 game in 2014 named FaeVerse Alchemy that is still in Early Access. Subsoap is currently working on the third game in the series, Faerie Solitare Dire. It’s due for release sometime in 2020.
How do you feel about this? Were you as surprised as I was to learn that Faerie Solitare even had a sequel? Are you excited to play it for free? Still going to buy it to support the developers? Let us know in the comments below!
