Game Freak announced a few more Pokemon who will be getting the chance to grow large in the upcoming Pokemon Sword and Shield. All first generation Pokemon hailing from the Red-Blue era, a number of ‘Mon will get cool new moves to accompany their massive stature. Fat Pikachu is back!

Shown in a trailer released this morning, Pokemon like Pikachu, Eevee, Charizard, Butterfree, and Meowth can Gigantamax, meaning they’ll grow to a large size and gain a special move. Whether it’s paralyzing every foe or burning them for damage for several turns, each fits with the Pokemon’s general fighting style. But just look at how large these absolute units of Pokemon are:

While Fat Pikachu is the obvious highlight, we here at USgamer are also very happy about the Longcat Meowth, who will be an early purchase gift for players who pick up Sword or Shield before January 15, 2020. Pikachu and Eevee have special tie-ins as well; you’ll get a Pikachu or Eevee that can Gigantamax if you have play records from their respective Let’s Go games.

Gigantamax is a special power move separate from Pokemon Sword and Shield’s Dynamaxing. To put it simply, only special Pokemon can Gigantamax and access the devastating G-Max moves. How you’ll obtain these specially powered and especially elastic Pokemon isn’t immediately clear, though it seems like Max Raid Battles will be a source for discovering them.

Pokemon Sword and Shield marks Pokemon’s mainline console debut for the Nintendo Switch on November 15. If you’re looking to see which version you should pick up, be sure to read up on our guide about all the version exclusives and differences. After all, you don’t want to miss out on that Galarian Ponyta or the stoic Sirfetch’d.
