Upcoming zoo management sim Planet Zoo is getting an early access beta. It’s coming on September 24th and will be available to players who’ve pre-ordered the game’s Deluxe Edition.

The beta will feature the first scenario from Planet Zoo‘s Career mode. The full Career will take you around the world, introducing you to a cast of colorful characters and placing you in charge of a number of different zoos. The first scenario introduces you to the basics of managing zoos. You’ll also get a chance to meet some of Planet Zoo‘s many, many animals, including some which haven’t yet been revealed. Tantalizing, no?

If you play the Planet Zoo beta, you’ll also gain access to a single biome in Franchise mode. Frontier says this is where “sandbox meets simulation”. You’ll be able to create and develop your own zoo franchise alongside the game’s global community. The beta will include the Animal Exchange, which will allow you to swap animals with players online in order to increase the diversity of your zoo. There’s more coming to Franchise mode once the game launches this November.

Remember, if you want access to the Planet Zoo beta, you’ll have to pre-order the game’s Deluxe Edition. You won’t just get beta access for your trouble though. The Planet Zoo Deluxe Edition also comes with the following:

  • Three exclusive animals – Komodo Dragon, Pygmy Hippopotamus, and Thomson’s Gazelle
  • High-quality desktop wallpapers
  • Original soundtrack

You can pre-purchase the Deluxe Edition over on the game’s Steam page. It’ll set you back $54.99. If you’re not interested in the extra stuff, don’t worry – you can still pre-purchase the regular version, which will cost you $44.99. Planet Zoo will launch for PC on November 5th. If you’re lucky enough to be attending Gamescom, you can play the game in Hall 7 at the Koelnmesse til the end of this week.

Will you be picking up Planet Zoo? Are you interested in the beta? Let us know in the comments below!

Dark Souls changed my life, and I’m here to spread the good news. I like pretty much all sorts of games, but I judge everything by its proximity to our Lord and saviour, Dark Souls.
