Kratos and his son Atreus return in tabletop form this time around, as Sony’s God of War becomes a brand new card game.
Players will take on the role of the Norns in God of War: The Card Game. As these powerful mythological beings, they must use a combination of heroes and quest in order to stop Ragnarok from taking place. Each quest is made from a mosaic of cards that represent the foe the Norns must defeat. Players need to build up their own decks of cards to kill these foes, allowing the Norns to gain more power as quests are subsequently completed.
Finish three quests, and Ragnarok is prevented, but the game will not be so simple, as the beings the Norns face are powerful and deadly.
Standard play of God of War: The Card Game will take up to 90 minutes to complete, with a 1-4 player limit. The Norns include Kratos and Atreus, but also Freya, Midir, Brok and Sindri as playable characters. Players are able to customize their decks to cater to a particular playstyle as well, with different options available as they cycle through their decks and grow in power. Foe’s include the guardian dragons, frost giants and dark elves, with four final bosses to choose from as the ultimate challenge.
God of War: The Card Game was developed by CMON studios, the team behind board games such as Gizmos, Rising Sun and their flagship product, Zombicide. This will be CMON’s second video game adaptation as well, as they were responsible for the development of Bloodborne: The Card Game, which was successfully Kickstarted earlier this year.
God of War: The Card Game is available now with an MSRP of $39.99.
