Martha is Dead Brings Psychological Thrillers to World War 2

World War 2 was probably one of the most horrible times in human history. With the Axis making up a destructive force of pure evil, they committed atrocities the likes of which the world has never seen. Martha is Dead is a psychological thriller taking place in this time period about a woman trying to discover how her twin sister died.

Taking place in the year 1944 in Tuscany, Italy, Martha is Dead sees a German soldier’s daughter discover the body of her twin sister drowned and desecrated. Ultimately she’s forced to deal with the trauma of the loss while trying to figure out how it happened and the truth behind her killing. The game promises to lay together a deep multi-layer narrative that mixes real history with superstition and psychological distress. The game will be a first person horror game, and promises and promises the character will “encounter situations and discover things no one should have to… mortal death was the easy path compared to this one marred by mental and emotional distress which lingers on.” You can get a first glimpse of all this in the trailer below:

The game is being developed by LKA, an Italian studio based in Florance. This is their second video game, their first being a psychological horror game called The Town of Light. You can read our review of The Town of Light here. It’s being published by Wired Productions, which has published games such as Close to the Sun and VIctor Vran.

Martha is Dead will be launching sometime in 2020, with no specific platforms announced yet.
