The Oxygen Not Included release date has finally been announced a few months later than the developers had originally planned. This space colony simulation game has been in the works for a while now, and Klei Entertainment feels like they’ve hit a point where they can finally exit Steam Early Access at the end of July 2019.
In Oxygen Not Included, players take on the role of a group of colonists trying to carve out a life for themselves in a hunk of space rock. You’ll have to carefully manage oxygen, power, and temperature to keep everyone alive. Supplies are scarce, so you’ll also have to make the most out of everything you get your hands on. And if this isn’t tough enough, you’ll also have to manage the psychological health of your colonists. You’ll be able to try your hand at living in space when the game launches on July 30, 2019.
Several new features will be debuting with the patch that brings the game out of Early Access according to a news post on the game’s Steam Community page. Players will have new asteroids to explore, each with their own rolled traits. Three new biomes (complete with their own plants and critters) should add a little more variety to the game. New buildings will be deployed to allow you to process and upgrade the materials you find, and “Colony Goals” are being added as an objective for players to complete.
The Oxygen Not Included release date patch will also include a balance and polish pass on a big chunk of the game. Bear in mind that the aforementioned features aren’t all-inclusive; a full list of new features will arrive on launch day.
If you haven’t yet picked up a copy of Oxygen Not Included for yourself, you can get it on Steam right now at a price of $19.99 or your regional equivalent, a 20% discount off of the game’s Early Access price of $24.99. Bear in mind that the Steam Store page says that they may increase the price after it leaves Early Access, so now’s the time to buy it if you’ve been waiting on this game! Oxygen Not Included exits Steam Early Access on July 30, 2019.
