Paradox Interactive launched a mobile version of Stellaris, subtitled Galaxy Command, yesterday and then promptly took it back down. Stellaris: Galaxy Command is currently offline and will remain so while Paradox sweeps through the game to conduct a “full investigation.”
While Paradox is publishing, developer Gamebear is the one under scrutiny. After a loading screen was discovered to use concept artwork for Halo 4, posted on a 343 Industries technical art director’s ArtStation, Paradox yanked the game off the web and put out a statement where it apologizes to both fans and the affected creators. Paradox goes on to say it will conduct a “full content sweep” to ensure the issue is resolved.
“This was a clear mistake on our part, and we are working to fix it as quickly as we can. We trust Gamebear to make things right for Galaxy Command and we will work closely with them to ensure this game meets the high standards our players deserve.”
An update posted today confirmed that while the initial analysis of in-game art assets was done, Paradox felt the situation required more scrutiny and Galaxy Command would continue to be on hiatus.

It’s a bit of a bonkers situation, especially considering the art in question. It still has “UNSC” emblazoned on the tanks and vehicles in the background. Kudos to Paradox for reacting swiftly and also taking the time to ensure everything is taken care of, but this is a rough look for Gamebear for putting this out there.
Stellaris, Paradox’s take on spacefaring grand strategy, was pretty cool the first time around, so I’d be looking forward to what this mobile game can do. It looks like we’ll have to wait for the investigation to wrap up before we get a chance, though.
