It seems like the Metro series may soon become portable, as a listing for a Nintendo Switch version of Metro Redux has been leaked.
Originally discovered by Wccftech, Portuguese retailer GamingReplay has accidentally listed a version of Metro Redux for the Nintendo Switch, set to come out in December. At the current time, the listing is no longer active, but a screenshot of it shows the game with Switch boxart, a description, a price, and a release date of December 1st.
For those unaware, Metro Redux is a combination of both Metro 2033 Redux and its sequel Metro: Last Light Redux, along with all of the DLC missions for Last Light. Both games are first-person shooters set in the Russian metro subway tunnel after a nuclear war and follows Artyom as he attempts to discover the secret behind a mysterious race of mutants known as The Dark Ones, and stop them from destroying the metro. They’re based on a sci-fi book series by Russian author Dimitry Glukhovsky. Earlier this year a third game in the series, called Metro Exodus released, but it’s not part of the collection and it seems unlikely that will be coming to the Switch any time soon.
Assuming the listing is true, this will be the first game in the Metro series to appear on a Nintendo console. Metro 2033 original came out on PC and Xbox 360 in 2010, with Metro: Last Light coming to PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 in 2013. A Wii U version of Last Light was originally planned but ultimately canceled before release.
Are you going to pick up the Switch version of Metro Redux? Do you think this means there’s a chance Artyom can appear in Super Smash Brothers? Is it bad taste to play the Metro games in the actual Russian Metro? Let us know in the comments below!
