Stadia Pro Adds Rise Of The Tomb Raider, Thumper

This week Google announced Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Thumper will be coming to Stadia Pro January 2020.

On January 1, 2020, Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration and Thumber will be available to play for free through Stadia Pro, while Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition will be leaving Stadia Pro on December 31 of this year. If you are a subscriber and you claim Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition before December 31 it will stay in your library as long as you stay a Stadia Pro subscriber. The 20 Year Celebration version of Rise of the Tomb Raider comes with the Blood Ties single-player DLC as well as Lara’s Nightmare zombie fighting mode DLC. The rest of Stadia Pro’s bonus games after December 31 will also include Destiny 2: The Collection, Samurai Showdown, and Farming Simulator 19.

While adding these two games for January is nice, the lack of exclusives and big-name must-have titles has led Stadia into an odd place. The service is at once interesting and hard to justify buying into given the available alternatives. Google will need to continue working hard to add more and more titles to the library if they want to give it the best chance of succeeding and finding a place in the industry.

You can pick up the Stadia Pro subscription for $9.99 a month that grants access to full 4k/60fps game streaming of the entire Stadia game library. If you want to get everything you’d need to get started with Stadia you can buy the Stadia Premiere Edition bundle that comes with a controller, Chromecast Ultra, and 3 months of Stadia Pro for $129.

What do you think Stadia needs to do in order to be competitive with current consoles? How do you think Stadia will fair once the next console generation launches next year?
