The Steam Grand Prix giveaway — a special part of the Steam Summer Sale 2019 — has been extended in a sense. The game had an intriguing reward system where a lucky handful of Steam users on that day’s winning team would win the top game on their wishlist. However, some people found the game confusing, and Valve has decided to make things up to the community a bit.
Some new text has popped up on the Steam Grand Prix giveaway page.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the Grand Prix. We realize that the race track had some unexpected turns – we tried to straighten them out when we could, and we’ll anticipate the curves better next time we invite you to the races.
As an extra gift for those that participated, we have randomly selected 5,000 users that contributed from any team in the Steam Grand Prix to receive the top game from their wishlist. Users that were randomly selected will receive their gift within 48 hours from the end of the Steam Grand Prix.
There are just a few hours left in the Steam Summer Sale 2019 at the time of writing, so the lucky chosen few will receive a notification that they’ve won in the next two days or so.
One of the more confusing aspects of the Steam Grand Prix giveaway largely came down to people not carefully reading the instructions and rules. Some people thought that the game you could win would be randomly selected from your wishlist, causing them to clean things up and remove a lot of games from the list. Valve had to step in and specifically clarify the rules as this was hurting an important metric that developers and Steam both care about.
If you’re one of the lucky few who’s been selected, you’ll receive the top game on your Steam wishlist within the next two days. The Steam Summer Sale 2019 ends today.
