Telltale Games Will No Longer Be Developed Episodically, Says CEO

In an interview with GameDaily.biz, Jamie Ottilie, the CEO of LCG Entertainment (the company that now owns Telltale Games) stated that while their new releases will still be structured episodically, they will be developed as a complete package. As such, even if the chapters are released piece by piece, the full game will have already been developed when the first episode launches.

Ottilie stated the following in the interview:

“We are creating the stories episodically, but how they will be released is still to be determined. I think the important distinction here is that we will no longer be developing episodically. If we do release the game in episodes, all of them will be ready before the first one hits the store.”

Ottilie also claims to want to avoid some pitfalls the company dealt with in the past, including mitigating crunch time, encouraging organization, and focusing on sustainability by not hiring on too many people too quickly. The company is also ditching the Telltale Tool Engine, restarting from scratch with Unreal Engine 4.

Whether or not his efforts will be a success remains to be seen, and some are quite skeptical about the company making a triumphant return. We’ll keep you posted with any updates on this topic, however, so stay tuned!
